POOR IN SPIRIT
On Wednesday nights we will study to understand and apply the "Beatitudes" of Jesus from Matthew 5:3-12.
True happiness ("Blessed") can only be found in those who are poor in spirit, meek; those who mourn, hunger and thirst after righteousness; those who are merciful, pure in heart, peacemakers, and persecuted for righteousness sake. These characteristics mark true Christians but they are never a person's natural tendency. These attitudes are a work of the Holy Spirit. All true Christians are to grow in all of these traits and they indicate the essential and utter difference between the Christian and the non-Christian. Living Christianly in the midst of a Coronavirus Season requires our hearts to be transformed by these truths; truths that drive us right to the heart of the Gospel.
